$100 ELECTRIC BILL EXAMPLE
IS SOLAR AFFORDABLE?
Going solar has never been cheaper! We specialize in custom designed systems, but that doesn’t mean they are more expensive; it means they are just right for you and your individual needs. The best way to find out how much you can save by harvesting the sun’s energy is by having us do a free, personalized evaluation for you.
To give you a general idea, however, of what the numbers look like, let’s take this example:
Most people think about their energy usage in terms of their monthly bill. Let’s say yours is $100. You would be using about 7,000 kilowatt hours per year of electricity.
To meet that usage, you would need a 5 kilowatt solar array. A roof-mount system would run about $15,000 installed. After benefitting from the 30% federal tax credit of $5,000 when you do your taxes next year, your net out of pocket cost is about $10,000.
The system would pay itself off in about 8 years, and you would be producing free electricity for the next 17 years. That means you’ve got more than $21,000 in your pocket over the lifetime of the array because of your smart decision to go solar.
Another way of looking at it is to think of it as pre-buying 25 years worth of power for about half the price of what you are currently paying, locking in significant savings.
